My Favourite YA Antagonists

I am very new to the world of blogging and was considering what should be my first non-review post. As you can see by the title, this seems like the most obvious pick. I have always loved antagonists, but they make villains sexy for a reason, am I right or am I right. Disclaimer, I understand antagonists are problematic and would be horrible in real life but, I enjoy them regardless. They usually are complex, dark, well written, and I am here to appreciate those characters.

My Top Seven —

Cardan is the High King of Elfhame. He is tall, lean, has curly, iridescent, midnight hair, sharp cheekbones, his eyes are described as black with a golden ring around the pupils. He is cruel, sarcastic, prideful, manipulative and according to him, his only redeeming quality is that he is no murderer. He is a sweet talker and was able to talk his way directly into my heart. I loved getting to watch his story unfold and develop.

Warner comes off as cruel and calculated, meticulous about his hygiene and wardrobe, and a detail-oriented perfectionist. He rules with an iron fist and can shoot a man dead without batting an eye. He is described as beautiful with blond hair and green eyes, a defined and strong jaw, and dimples when he smiles. Based on that description obviously, I fell so hard and so fast. I love morally grey characters, if you haven’t read this, you must for Aaron.

The Darkling is described as a tall handsome young man with ink-black hair, quartz grey eyes, and sharp, beautiful features. He is bold, ambitious, cruel and full of surprises. I don’t want to give away too much about his character, in case you’re new to the Grishaverse, but he is a very complex and manipulative character that I couldn’t help but be compeltely invested in.

Levana is the cruel, power-hungry, manipulative, and vain Queen of Luna. She is the main antagonist in The Lunar Chronicles series. She uses her glamour to hide her true appearance and makes herself have long and curly auburn hair, onyx eyes, and extremely red lips, which makes her the fairest of them all. She is such a wicked and fun character and I was so happy that there is Novella all about her.

Rhysand is the High Lord of the Night Court, he is incredibly handsome and appears to be arrogant, careless, and cold. He is described as heartbreakingly handsome with short blue-black hair and violet eyes with flecks of silver like starlight. I don’t want to say I have a type, but I think at this point it’s obvious. Rhysand is another great and complex antagonist that owns my heart.

Draco is a slender boy with sleek white-blond hair, cold grey eyes, a pale complexion and rather sharp, pointed features. He’s an arrogant, spoiled, and spiteful bully that is also intelligent, cunning and quick-witted. He is a complex, flawed and realistic character that I can’t help but be protective over. I am pretty sure you know who he is and for good reason, he is such an iconic and annoying antagonist.

Manon is an extremely beautiful witch with alabaster skin, long, moon-white hair, and eyes the colour of burnt gold. She has the distinct traits for the Ironteeth—a set of retractable iron fangs and nails. Shes is cruel, ruthless, cunning, resourceful and can be heartless, uncaring, and icy, but is the badest bitch around. She has the greatest character development and is so well written. I don’t know if I want to be her or marry her.

As you can tell a lot of the antagonist I like, also are very attractive… but can you blame me? They are way more than just hot, they were done well enough where I felt my morals leave my body. It was hard narrowing down this list, and I am sure in a month or two it will change. But as of right these are the antagonist that lives rent-free in my head at all times.

Who are your favourite antagonists? Let me know!
