Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Genre: Diverse, Romance, Thriller

“My eyes fill with tears. All these years, I have never seen it that way, but Ma’s right. I did grow up with four mothers, and it really has been amazing. There’s been so much love in my life that I took for granted.”

An (accidental) murder, thousands of wedding guests, cursed generations and meddling Asian aunties all wrapped up together in this hilarious romantic comedy. Meddelin Chan ends up killing her blind date and asks her aunties to help her get rid of the body. But things get super complicated when the dead body gets shipped to the wedding they are working for.

This was such an entertaining, thrilling and funny book. I was captivated from beginning to ending and stayed up almost all night to finish it. I laughed out loud multiple times at the bickering and family dynamics. I loved how even though they’re legit doing criminal shit, the overall message is family sticking together no matter what.

The romance was fun but not really a central focus since most of Meddelin and Nathan’s romance was in the past prior to them re-meeting. You do get to see read flashbacks but it doesn’t matter because Nathan being perfect is obvious. Regardless I wanted them to work out, I needed Meddelin to get away with murder and get the guy! I had such a fun time reading this and highly recommend this to anyone.
