The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“Sometimes reality comes crashing down on you. Other times reality simply waits, patiently, for you to run out of the energy it takes to deny it.”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Movie icon Evelyn Hugo finally shares the secrets of her scandalous life. She hires Monique Grant for the job, and Monique is just happy for the opportunity to jumpstart her career. Monique listens as Evelyn shares her story of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and forbidden love.

I finished this book yesterday but needed to give myself twenty-four hours to process my emotions. I sobbed like a fucking baby and can’t get over how incredible this book is. I usually don’t like historical fiction but this has made me question if I’ve just never read a good one.

I won’t be saying too much because honestly, everyone needs to pick up this book. The characters are absolutely incredible, they are complex and flawed and brought this book to life. I fell in love with Evelyn really quickly and was completely invested in her story. How Monique’s story intertwined with everything was incredible and I loved hearing both perspectives.

This book does a really amazing job at capturing old Hollywood glam, money and fame. I am honestly still in shock and can’t get over how amazing this book it. There is so many twists and turns and I laughed, screamed and sobbed. I don’t even want to give away anything I just highly recommend picking up this book… now!!
